Privacy notice

What we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and browsing this site does not require you to give us any personal information.

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information — including IP address, browser type, and pages visited — in server logs used for security and troubleshooting. We do not use these logs to identify you.

Everything else we hold is what you chose to type into a form: for example your name, email address, phone number, arrival details, or the message and rating you send.

You can leave feedback or ask a question without giving us your name or contact details, though we will not be able to reply if you do.

How we use it

Form submissions are saved to our site database and emailed to the One Hand Foundation team so a volunteer can reply or arrange the help you asked for. Website feedback and ratings are used to improve these pages.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone outside the One Hand Foundation volunteers handling your request, other than the service providers who host this site and deliver our email, who process it on our behalf and under our instructions, except where we are required to by law.

What is public

Everything you submit through Get Connected is private and goes only to our volunteer team.Community Pulse is different. The name or nickname you enter and the memory you write are published publicly on this website, where anyone can read them and search engines can index them. Your email address on that form is never published. You can ask us to remove your post at any time.

How long we keep things

We keep what you send only as long as we need it.

• Arrival and pickup details, including flight information — deleted once you have arrived and the request is closed.
• Mentor matching information — kept while the match is active and for one year afterwards.
• Volunteer information — kept while you are volunteering with us. Clearance records for youth programs are kept as long as Pennsylvania law requires.
• Questions and feedback — kept until answered, then for up to one year so we can see patterns in what people need.
• Community Pulse posts — published until you ask us to remove them.

You can ask us to delete anything you sent, at any time, by emailing info@onehandfoundation.org. We will confirm when it is done. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so we do not delete someone else's information by mistake. Copies may remain in routine backups for a short period before they are overwritten.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use third-party analytics services or tracking cookies. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any   retargeting scripts.

When you use the site search or share a page, we save a short, anonymous record in our own database so we can see which pages people find useful. These records use a temporary session ID stored in your browser's sessionStorage, not a cookie, and do not identify you personally.

The only automatic records created while you browse are the hosting server logs described above.

Who processes your information

The site is hosted by Lovable, on Cloudflare's network. Form submissions are handled by our Lovable Cloud database and delivered by Resend to info@onehandfoundation.org. These companies process the information on our behalf and under our instructions. They do not use it for their own purposes.

Sensitive details

Some forms ask for your home country and the language you are most comfortable in. We ask only so we can match you with someone who can talk to you easily. This is never shared outside the volunteer team handling your request, and you can leave it blank.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, immigration status, visa documents, financial account details, Social Security numbers, or medical records. If you send them by accident, tell us and we will delete them.

Security

We use reputable hosting and email providers and limit access to submissions to the volunteers handling them. No website can promise perfect security, and we would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise. Please do not send us anything highly sensitive through these forms.

Age and children's privacy

The forms on this website are for adults. You must be 18 or older to submit a form or post to Community Pulse.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, as described by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email us and we will delete it promptly.

Some pages describe services for families and children — school registration, childcare, youth programs. Those forms are meant to be completed by a parent or guardian, who decides what to share about their child. Please send only what is needed for us to help.

Accessibility

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or captions. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Pages use semantic headings and landmarks, descriptive link text, alternative text on meaningful images, visible focus outlines, and color contrast intended to meet AA. We check new pages as we build them, but this is a volunteer-run site and some content may still fall short.

If any part of this site is hard for you to use, or you need information from it in another format — large print, plain text, or read to you over the phone — email us and we will provide it and fix the page.

Links to other sites

This site links to WhatsApp groups, mosque websites, city services, and other organizations. Once you follow a link, that organization's own privacy practices apply — not ours.

If you are outside the United States

Many people write to us before they arrive. If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Union, or another region with data protection laws, you may ask us for a copy of what you sent, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@onehandfoundation.org and we will respond. Information you send us is stored in the United States.

Changes to this notice

We update this notice as the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
