State College Muslims is a community-built resource that brings practical information together in one place, from prayer times and halal food to housing, schools, buses, and local rules. It also connects newcomers with real people who can help them feel informed, supported, and at home.

WHO’S BEHIND THIS WEBSITE?
One Hand Foundation
One Hand Foundation is a mission-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in State College, Pennsylvania, built on a shared vision of compassion, unity, and community care. We create meaningful connections and lasting impact through practical programs and community service.

One Hand Foundation runs year-round programming in State College and across Centre County — from food distribution and health clinics to graduation celebrations, interfaith gatherings, and youth workshops. Every event is designed to welcome, support, and connect our community.
Our work is built around a few core pillars: making sure families have enough to eat, connecting people to health and wellness resources, welcoming newcomers, supporting children and seniors, and creating spaces where the wider community can learn about and celebrate with us.

- Food Hub — monthly Ramadan food box distribution with ISCP, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, and One Hand.
- Ramadan meal distribution at the Allen Street Gates, sharing hot meals and conversation with passersby.
Health & wellness
- Lion Mobile Clinic — free flu shots and wellness checks at ISCP, no insurance or appointment needed.
- Wellness Body & Mind — health screenings, book giveaways, food distribution, and family activities in partnership with local organizations.
- Kids Mobile Dental Bus — free dental care for children, improving long-term wellness for families.
Welcome & belonging
- Port & Support — welcome event for newly arrived families and students with a trolley tour, lunch, and resource connections.
- Graduation Ceremony — celebrating high school, bachelor's, master's, and PhD graduates in a spiritual atmosphere with family and friends.
Families & youth
- Know Ramadan — storytime and craft workshop for children ages 4–12 at Schlow Library.
- Kid's Farm Visit — hands-on educational farm experience with the Penn State Student Farm.
- Joining Hands — back-to-school event with school supplies, books, and resource tables for Philipsburg-Osceola families.
- Righteous Companionship and Gen-Z: Path of Light — Islamic workshops and courses for teens and young adults.
Seniors
- Spring Social for Seniors — an afternoon of games, live music, and cultural performance for elderly residents.
- Silver & Savvy — a workshop helping older adults use AI safely and confidently in everyday life.
Culture & community
- PSU APIDA Spring Festival — a booth celebrating culture, creativity, and local artisans.
- Ramadan lantern lighting at the Allen Street Gates to raise awareness and welcome the holy month.

For sisters
One Hand Women's Society (OWS)
OWS is the sisters' circle of One Hand Foundation — a women-only space for new arrivals and long-time residents in State College. Sisters organize halaqas and Quran circles, welcome dinners and coffee meetups, help with rides, groceries, and baby needs after a new arrival, and share advice on schools, doctors, and settling in with children.
If you are a sister arriving alone or with your family, the fastest way in is the WhatsApp group. Introduce yourself and ask anything — someone always answers.

Halal information
We are not a halal certifying body and we do not inspect kitchens, supply chains, or slaughter practices.
Where a listing is marked “halal,” this means the business has publicly stated or communicated that it offers halal food or products. Halal certification status may change or lapse, suppliers may change, and shared equipment may be used. Please confirm directly with the business before ordering or purchasing. Listing a business on this site does not constitute an endorsement.
Housing and leases
Neighbourhood descriptions, listing sources, and pre-signing checklists on this site are practical suggestions from community members, not legal advice about your tenancy. Our volunteers do not review, interpret, or advise on lease terms. For advice on a lease, Penn State students should contact Student Legal Services; others should contact a licensed attorney or MidPenn Legal Services.
We do not screen landlords, verify listings, or inspect properties, and we are not a party to any tenancy you enter.

Restaurants, grocery stores, landlords, schools, clinics, banks, WhatsApp groups, and other organizations named here are independent of us. Listing or linking is not an endorsement or a guarantee of quality, safety, legality, price, or availability, and we are not responsible for the content, conduct, or privacy practices of any site or group you reach from here.
WhatsApp and similar community groups are run by their own administrators, not by us. What is posted in them is not ours, is not reviewed by us, and does not represent One Hand Foundation.
Volunteers and introductions
Volunteers placed in roles involving direct contact with children are required to complete the clearances mandated by the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law before placement, and are informed of their obligations as mandated reporters.
Separately, this site also makes informal introductions between adults — mentor families, airport rides, help with a move. These are goodwill arrangements between community members. We make the introduction in free and good faith, we do not supervise the arrangement, and you remain responsible for your own safety and your own decisions. Use the same judgment you would with any new acquaintance, and tell us if anything concerns you.
What you send us and post here
You must be 18 or older and are responsible for anything you submit. Do not submit anything unlawful, misleading, abusive, or that infringes on another person’s rights. Do not share another person’s personal information without their permission.
Community Pulse submissions are published publicly. By submitting one, you give One Hand Foundation a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to publish, edit for length or clarity, translate, and display your submission on this website and in our community materials. We review every submission before publication and do not publish all of them.
